Sheila Paul #363
Sheila has always been considered 1 of the boys and no, not
because she looks like a guy but because she usually likes doing the things the
guys do.
Things like working on cars, motorcycles, riding ATV's and even racing motorcycles...yes
motorcycles. Sheila has been riding motorcycles since she was 17 when her
father gave her a motorcycle and that was the beginning of her obsession with bikes.
In 2005, Sheila was introduced to roadracing. She watched from the sidelines for 1 1/2 years before she made it onto a track to see if she had what it took to be a roadracer.
Since then, Sheila has been racing with the Motorcycle Roadracing Association (MRA) in Colorado as well as Central Motorcycle Roadracing Association (CMRA). “This has been a great experience for me and I have enjoyed the camaraderie within the clubs” says Sheila Paul.
At the beginning of 2009, Sheila moved to Texas and started racing with CMRA. Sheila is now in her third full year of racing and is having the time of her life.
2010 has not gone quite the way Sheila planned for racing but it has still been a great year. Sheila had only raced four of her ten races when she had a car accident. Luckily there were no major injuries but it still kept her from racing a few rounds. Sheila has been training hard and will be back with CMRA in 2011.
Sheila has also been busy working with AMA Pro Racing at the Roadracing events. She oversees the Tire Control program ensuring that all racers are running the correct spec tire as well as staying within their weekend allotment.
Sheila shares her passion of motorcycles and racing with her 15
year old daughter and 20 year old son. Her daughter can usually be found in the
pits helping out with the bike prep or at the motocross track teaching as well as training for her
upcoming motocross races. Both of her
children learned how to ride dirtbikes when they were three so they are no
strangers to motorcycles.
Sheila is also involved with a children’s charity called "Racing 2 Save
Lives" (R2SL). R2SL holds three day motorcycle track days to help raise money for children’s
charities.
Yes there are other things Sheila likes but roadracing is at the top of the
list.
